A gas pathway.
A material balance.
Produced methane is the primary energy output. Mineral, chemical and water streams are accounted for in the reference design.
1,000 KG/H DRY MSW · INDUSTRIAL METHANE CASE
Modelled outputs of the 1,000 kg/h industrial reference module
Methane
351.0 kg/hModelled CH₄ output after final treatment: 2,808 tonnes/year at 8,000 operating hours. The quantity of methane produced depends on the composition and characteristics of the feedstock. After final treatment, the produced methane meets the requirements for injection into the natural gas grid.
Potassium carbonate
1,712.9 kg/h dry equivalentApproximately 13,703 tonnes/year dry equivalent, or 3,425.9 kg/h as a 50% solution. The 50 wt% liquid product is supplied as the commercial product. No additional drying or finishing stage is required for this product form. Includes externally supplied KOH.
Vitrified minerals
231.5 kg/hThe vitrified slag is a certified safe mineral product with long-term leaching stability and can be supplied for appropriate commercial and industrial applications.
Industrial methane scenario · PGMCC Green Methane and Chemical Complex, pp. 2–11. Preliminary engineering model at 1,000 kg/h dry MSW and 8,000 operating hours/year. Project performance is subject to feedstock validation and detailed engineering.
Material inputs. 1,666.67 kg/h wet MSW and 1,420.2 kg/h fresh KOH, plus process water and utilities. The principal material inputs and outputs are incorporated into the overall material balance of the plant.
Carbon recovery. The concept assigns approximately 263.3 kg/h carbon to methane and 148.8 kg/h to carbonate under an ideal conversion assumption. The PGMCC process is designed to achieve a zero carbon footprint by retaining and converting the carbon contained in the feedstock into useful products rather than releasing it to the atmosphere.
